Description
The LTC2453 is an ultra-tiny, fully differential, 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that communicates via a 2-wire I²C interface. It operates on a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and is available in 8-pin, 3mm x 2mm DFN and TSOT packages.
The LTC2453 features an integrated oscillator, eliminating the need for external components. It employs a delta-sigma modulator as its converter core, resulting in no latency for multiplexed applications. A proprietary input sampling scheme significantly reduces average input sampling current compared to conventional delta-sigma converters. Additionally, negligible current leakage exists between the input pins.
The LTC2453 offers a sampling rate of 60 conversions per second and has relaxed antialiasing requirements due to its high oversampling ratio. Continuous internal offset and full-scale calibration algorithms ensure accuracy over time and temperature. The converter has external REF and REF- pins, allowing the differential input voltage range to extend up to (VREF - VREF-).
After a single conversion, the LTC2453 can automatically enter sleep mode, reducing its power consumption to less than 0.2μA. With a reading frequency of once per second, the LTC2453 consumes an average of less than 50μW from a 2.7V supply.
