Description
The DS1743/DS1743PY2K is a nonvolatile timekeeping RAM that integrates an NV SRAM, real-time clock, crystal, power-fail control circuit, and lithium energy source. The clock registers are accessed identically to the static RAM and reside in the eight top RAM locations. It features a century byte register and is totally nonvolatile with over 10 years of operation in the absence of power. The BCD-coded century, year, month, date, day, hours, minutes, and seconds with automatic leap year compensation are valid through 2099. The device has a low-battery-voltage level indicator flag and power-fail write protection that allows for ±10% Vcc power-supply tolerance. The lithium energy source is electrically disconnected to retain freshness until power is applied for the first time. The DIP module has a standard JEDEC bytewide 8k x 8 static RAM pinout, while the PowerCap module board is a surface-mountable package for direct connection to the PowerCap containing the battery and crystal. The PowerCap is replaceable, and the device has a power-on reset output. It is pin-for-pin compatible with other densities of DS174XP timekeeping RAM and is UL recognized to prevent charging of the internal lithium battery.
