Description
The A8424 is a high-current photoflash capacitor charger designed for digital cameras, camcorders, and DSC combos. It features an integrated 55 V DMOS switch in a thin profile 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.75 mm package. The peak current limit is user-adjustable from 0.5 to 1.5 A. Output voltage sensing is performed on the primary side, eliminating the need for a resistor divider. The A8424 offers high efficiency (>75%), fast charging time, and charge complete indication. It includes a flexible, high-current IGBT driver with an independent supply and separate sink and source pins. Interlocked trigger pins enhance noise immunity. The A8424 does not require a primary-side Schottky diode.
