- Datasheet:
- MCP79410T-I/SN
Description
The MCP7941X series of low-power Real-Time Clocks (RTCs) utilizes digital timing compensation for accurate timekeeping. It features a programmable output control for versatility, a power sense circuit for automatic backup supply switching, and nonvolatile memory for data storage. The RTC tracks time using internal registers and communicates via the I²C™ bus. It automatically adjusts for months with fewer than 31 days, including leap year corrections. The clock operates in 24-hour or 12-hour format with an AM/PM indicator and settable alarms. The programmable CLKOUT generates frequencies of 32.768, 8.192, 4.096 kHz, and 1 Hz from the external crystal. The device includes 64 bytes of battery-backed SRAM, 1 Kbits of EEPROM, and a 64-bit protected space for a unique ID or MAC address. It is accessible through the serial interface while Vcc is between 1.8V and 5.5V, but can operate down to 1.3V for timekeeping and SRAM retention.
Features
Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC) with battery backup
Programmable output control for CLKOUT and alarm output
64 bytes of battery-backed SRAM
1 Kbits of EEPROM with block/sector write protection
64-bit unique ID with protected area
Automatic Vcc switchover to VBAT backup supply
Low-power CMOS technology
ESD protection >4,000V
I²C 100 kHz and 400 kHz compatibility
More than 1 million erase/write cycles
Pb-Free and RoHS compliant
Applications
Timekeeping and date tracking
Alarm and event scheduling
Data logging and storage
Industrial control and automation
