Description
The PCM54 and PCM55 are 16-bit, parallel input, fully monotonic digital-to-analog converters designed for digital audio applications. They utilize ultra-stable nichrome thin-film resistors for monotonicity, low distortion, and low differential linearity error. These converters are self-contained with an internal voltage reference, current switches, resistor ladder network, and output operational amplifier. They operate on power supplies ranging from ±5V (PCM55) to ±12V (PCM54) and have a power dissipation of less than 200mW with ±5V supplies. The PCM54 includes a provision for external adjustment of the MSB error to improve THD specifications. A current output wiring option is also provided, which settles to within ±0.006% of FSR final value in 350ns. The PCM54 is packaged in a 28-pin DIP, while the PCM55 is available in a 24-lead SOIC.
