Description
The MCP98242 is a digital temperature sensor with a 256-byte serial EEPROM. It is optimized for voltage ranges of 3.0V to 3.6V and has a shutdown/standby current of 3 μA (maximum). The MCP98242 has a 2-wire interface that is I²C/SMBus compatible. It is available in DFN-8, TDFN-8, UDFN-8, and TSSOP-8 packages.
The temperature sensor features a temperature-to-digital converter with an operating current of 200 μA (typical). It has an accuracy of ±0.5°C/ 1°C (typ./max.) from 75°C to 95°C, ±1°C/ 2°C (typ./max.) from 40°C to 125°C, and - 2°C/±3°C (typ./max.) from -20°C to 125°C.
The serial EEPROM features an operating current of 1.1 mA (typical) for 3.5 ms (typical) for writing and 100 μA (typical) for reading. It is organized as 1 block of 256 bytes (256x8). The lower 128 bytes (address 00h to 7Fh) can be Permanent Write-Protected (PWP) or Software Reversible Write-Protected (SWP). The upper 128 bytes (address 80h to FFh) can be used for general purpose data storage.
