Description
The MCP3901 is a dual-channel Analog Front End (AFE) that includes:
Two synchronous sampling Delta-Sigma Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs)
Two Programmable Gain Amplifiers (PGAs)
Phase delay compensation block
Internal voltage reference
Modulator output block
High-speed, addressable 20 MHz SPI compatible serial interface
The converters utilize a proprietary dithering algorithm for reduced idle tones and improved Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The internal register map contains 24-bit wide ADC data words, a modulator output byte, and six writable control registers for programming gain, oversampling ratio, phase, resolution, dithering, shutdown, reset, and communication features.
Communication is simplified with Continuous Read modes accessible by Direct Memory Access (DMA) and a separate data ready pin for Interrupt Request (IRQ) input. The MCP3901 can interface with various voltage and current sensors, including shunts, current transformers, Rogowski coils, and Hall-effect sensors.

Industrial temperature ranges: -40°C to 85°C (Industrial), -40°C to 125°C (Extended)
