It includes a p-channel highside MOSFET, an n-channel lowside MOSFET, and a driver IC, forming an integrated high-current half-bridge. All three chips are mounted on a common lead frame using chip-on-chip and chip-by-chip technology. The power switches employ vertical MOS technologies to ensure optimal on-state resistance. The presence of the p-channel highside switch eliminates the need for a charge pump, minimizing electromagnetic interference. The integrated driver IC facilitates easy interfacing with a microcontroller, offering logic-level inputs, current sense diagnosis, slew rate adjustment, dead time generation, and protection against overtemperature, undervoltage, overcurrent, and short circuit. The BTN8982TA incorporates both a P-channel high-side MOSFET and an N-channel low-side MOSFET, along with an integrated driver IC. Specifically, when the P-channel high-side MOSFET is on and the N-channel low-side MOSFET is off, the upper side of the motor coil will be connected to the positive terminal of the power supply, and the lower side will be connected to the negative terminal of the power supply to drive the motor to rotate positively. Conversely, when the P-channel high-side MOSFET is off and the N-channel low-side MOSFET is on, the upper side of the motor coil will be connected to the negative terminal of the power supply and the lower side will be connected to the positive terminal of the power supply, thereby driving the motor to rotate in the reverse direction. Furthermore, the BTN8982TA incorporates various protective features, including safeguards against over-temperature, under-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit situations, among others. These features guarantee the secure and stable operation of loads, such as motors, across diverse operating conditions. Additionally, the utilization of a P-channel high-side switch in the BTN8982TA eliminates the need for a charge pump, thereby minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
