The CR2450 is a non-rechargeable lithium coin cell battery. These coin cells have twice the capacity of typical dry cell batteries. It uses manganese dioxide with very stable chemical properties as the positive electrode material and high-energy lithium as the negative electrode material. It has a low annual self-discharge rate and a long storage life. It provides an output voltage of 3V and a typical capacity of 620mAh. CR2450 battery features 24.5 mm diameter and 5.0 mm height and it weighs in 6.3 grams. Additionally, it contains zero mercury, making it very environmentally friendly. CR2450 batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as small toys, small lamps, watches, calculators, and remote controls.

CR2450 button lithium manganese dioxide battery is named according to IEC standards. Among them, "C" represents its chemical composition, namely lithium manganese dioxide; "R" represents the round shape of the battery; the number "2450" represents the standard size of the battery (diameter and thickness: 24mm × 5.0mm).

• Embedded systems: In some embedded systems, the CR2450 battery can be used as a backup power supply or real-time clock battery to maintain the system's time and configuration information.

• Sports and health devices: Fitness trackers, heart rate monitors, and other health devices may use CR2450 batteries because they require long battery life to track user activity and health data.

• Medical Devices: Certain portable medical devices such as blood glucose monitors and pulse oximeters can use CR2450 batteries.

• Calculator: Calculators usually use CR2450 batteries as power source because this battery has a relatively long life and can continue to provide power for a long time.

• Small electronic devices: Some small electronic devices such as hygrometers, thermometers, remote controls and electronic scales also use CR2450 batteries.

• Wireless sensors: Some sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks use CR2450 batteries because this battery can provide a relatively long battery life, thereby extending the life of the sensor node.

Ⅵ. What is the difference between CR2450 and CR2430?

Although they are both lithium cobalt oxide batteries, they differ in physical dimensions, capacity and applications. In terms of physical dimensions, the CR2450 is 24.5mm in diameter and 5.0mm thick, while the CR2430 is 24.5mm in diameter and 3.0mm thick . In terms of capacity, the CR2450 is typically 620mAh, while the CR2430 only has 270mAh. In terms of applications, due to the small size of CR2430, it is often used in some devices that require relatively small space and need to be lighter, such as smart cards, remote controls, timers, etc.; while CR2450 is often used in products that require higher capacity, such as watches, alarm clocks, calculators, etc.

Ⅷ. CR2450 battery manufacturing process

The production steps for CR2450 batteries are as follows:

The first step is the production of battery separators. We use polymer materials to make battery separators, which are an important part of the battery and prevent short circuits between the positive and negative electrodes while allowing electrolyte ions to pass through.

The next step is to prepare the electrolyte. We mix the electrolyte, solvent and additives in a certain proportion, and prepare the electrolyte through stirring, filtration, degassing and other processes.

Next comes battery assembly. We assemble the positive and negative electrode sheets, separators, electrolytes and other accessories, and go through processes such as winding, finishing, welding, and sealing to produce CR2450 batteries.

The last step is quality inspection. We conduct quality inspections such as visual inspection, electrical performance testing, charge and discharge testing, and air tightness testing on finished batteries to ensure that the products meet specifications.

Ⅸ. Development of CR2450 battery

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is a CR2450 the same as a CR2032 battery?

The CR2450 battery relies on the same storage technology as the CR2032 type. Therefore the energy density is the same, but the CR2450 cell provides more capacity due to its larger size. The capacity also varies depending on the manufacturer and lays around 620 mAh.

2. What battery can replace CR2450?

With a proper battery holder, the CR2430 battery can replace the CR2450 battery; just be aware of the capacity difference (CR2430: 270-290 mAh, CR2450: 600-620 mAh) and the maximum pulse current difference.

3. What uses 2450 battery?

CR2450 battery can be used for memory back-up, digital watches, car keys, laser pens, fitness appliances and medical devices such as tensiometers and clinical thermometers.

4. Can the CR2450 battery be recharged?

CR2450 battery is a disposable lithium battery and does not support charging. Once the power is exhausted, the battery needs to be replaced with a new one. This is because its internal chemical reactions are irreversible and the battery cannot be charged.
