Ⅳ. How does IRS2092S work?

First, an audio input signal is passed to the IRS2092S. This input signal is usually the output from an audio source, such as a music player, TV, or other audio device. The IRS2092S contains a comparator that compares the input signal to a feedback signal. The feedback signal is usually a small portion of the output from a power amplifier that is passed through a feedback loop to the comparator. When the amplitude of the input signal exceeds the amplitude of the feedback signal, the comparator triggers the generation of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The duty cycle (i.e., the ratio of time at high level to one cycle) of the PWM signal depends on the amplitude of the input signal.

In addition, the IRS2092S incorporates a number of protection features to ensure the safe operation of the power amplifier. These include over-current protection, over-temperature protection, etc. The PWM signal is passed to the output stage of the power amplifier. Typically, this stage includes MOSFETs used to control the power switching tubes. Depending on the duty cycle of the PWM signal, the power switching MOSFET switches in the direction of the current, converting the input signal into a pulse signal. Since the PWM signal is rich in harmonics in the frequency domain, an output filter is usually required to convert it to an analog audio signal. This filter usually includes an LC filter to remove high frequency noise.

Ⅵ. Where is IRS2092S used?

• Home theater systems: The IRS2092S finds widespread application as an audio amplifier module within home theater setups. Its excellent performance and minimal power requirements make it well-suited for integration into home theater systems, delivering superior audio amplification with energy efficiency.

• Power amplifier module: The IRS2092S is often used as a power amplifier module because of its powerful power amplification that can be integrated into audio devices such as headphones, speakers, and so on. These devices often require additional power to drive, so the integration of the IRS2092S can provide the required performance.

• Car audio systems: The IRS2092S can be used to drive speakers in the car to provide clear, powerful audio effects in the vehicle. The IRS2092S offers higher efficiency and lower power consumption than conventional car audio driver chips. Its high efficiency allows it to provide excellent audio performance even under automotive power conditions.

• Audio system IC: The IRS2092S, as an IC, integrates many features required for audio systems, such as over-temperature protection, over-current protection, and over-voltage protection. These features make the audio system safer and more stable during operation. Compared with peripheral components, the IRS2092S is more integrated and easier to use, which reduces the need for peripheral components, thus reducing the cost and complexity of the system.

Ⅶ. What should we pay attention to when using IRS2092?

1. Regarding the overcurrent protection setting value issue:

(1) Selection of current protection threshold: The current flowing through the FET includes the audio output and LPF filter network current, so the actual required setting value should be higher than the peak value of the audio current. A recommended selection method is: the maximum output current of the power amplifier at saturated output×1.5.

(2) Selection of RDSON: It can be selected according to the actual maximum operating temperature. Usually, the RDSON value at 85°C can be selected.

(3) IC protection value selection: With the current and RDSON data, we can select the IC protection value. It should be noted that under high current conditions, the switching waveform of the FET should be a clean square wave. If there are burrs, we can appropriately increase the gate resistance and optimize the decoupling structure.

(4) Regarding DC output issues: Under heavy load conditions, the power supply voltage may drop. However, due to the positive and negative asymmetry of the transformer or load, the positive and negative power supply voltages drop inconsistently, causing a certain half-wave of the power amplifier to saturate the output in advance. When this problem occurs, it's usually not the amplifier's fault. We can try to solve it by slightly increasing the power supply voltage and increasing the pond capacitance.

2. Under ideal working conditions, the shorter the actual dead time of the half-bridge, the better, and it can even be set to a minimum of 10 nanoseconds.

3. Issues that should be paid attention to when using IRS2092S as a full-range power amplifier

(1) Component selection: Priority should be given to components with better linearity.

(2) Modulation frequency: It is recommended to choose a modulation frequency of 300KHz to 400KHz.

(3) LC filter matching: The L/C value of the LC filter should be appropriately matched. In order to better solve certain problems, it is recommended that L be 18~22μH.

(4) Flatness improvement: To further improve flatness, L can be taken to 10μH, and the modulation frequency can be increased to about 400KHz.
