MPS2222A is an NPN transistor produced by Fairchild Semiconductor. Its main features include power dissipation of 0.625W; collector current of 0.6A; maximum withstand voltage of collector and base of 75V; maximum withstand voltage of collector and emitter of 40V; maximum withstand voltage of emitter and base of 6V; collector and base reverse leakage current is 0.01μA; emitter and base reverse leakage current is 0.01μA; collector and emitter saturation voltage is 0.3V; characteristic frequency is 300MHz; DC amplification factor is 100 to 300.


It is a general-purpose transistor that can be used in a variety of different applications. For example, it can be used in audio amplifiers or high impedance instrumentation amplifiers. However, it should be noted that its package is a TO-92 package, and its pinout is different from other common transistor pinouts.

Ⅶ. Application of MPS2222A


1. Switching application


Since MPS2222A has a high switching speed and a small saturation voltage drop, it can be used as a switching device to exert its characteristics in applications such as switching power supplies, motor drives, and ballasts.


2. Excitation level amplification


MPS2222A can also be used for excitation level amplification. In a multi-stage amplifier, the excitation stage amplification is the first stage amplification, and its main function is to amplify the weak input signal enough to drive the subsequent stages to further amplify. In excitation stage amplification applications, the main performance parameters of the device include voltage amplification, input impedance, output impedance, etc.
