Three people familiar with the matter said that the US government has stopped issuing supply licenses to American enterprises for export to China, including goods below 5G level, including 4G, Wifi 6 and Wifi 7, artificial intelligence and high-performance computing and cloud projects.

According to Reuters, Huawei has faced export restrictions from the United States on 5G and other technologies for many years, but officials of the United States Department of Commerce granted licenses to some American companies to allow them to sell certain goods and technologies to Huawei. Qualcomm was approved to sell 4G smart phone chips to Huawei in 2020. Intel and AMD provide Huawei with processors used in Mate series notebook computers, while Qualcomm sells Huawei processors and modems.

People familiar with the matter said that U.S. officials are formulating a formal new policy not to supply Huawei, including items below 5G level, including 4G, Wifi 6 and Wifi 7, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing and cloud projects.

Another person familiar with the matter said that the move was expected to reflect the tightening policy of the Biden government towards Huawei in the past year. This person said that 4G chips that may have been approved earlier are also restricted. At the end of the Trump government and the beginning of the Biden government, officials are still issuing licenses for 4G products.

Huawei's suppliers have obtained a license worth US $61 billion and can sell products to Huawei from April 2021 to November 2021.
