Simplo expects normal production levels to resume in April

According to company chairman Raymond Song, laptop battery specialist Simplo Technology is expected to resume normal production in China in April, when more workers will return to its Chongqing plant.

Sung said that by the end of March, Simplo's production will reach the usual level in the off-season.

Sung said that although many Chinese manufacturers offer bonuses to attract workers back home, Simplo has no current plans to follow suit, as this approach will only increase the company's revenue, not its profitability.

According to industry sources, Simplo is currently the largest manufacturer of notebook battery modules and a supplier of AirPods charging cases. In addition to its IT business, the company has been making inroads into other areas, such as electric bicycles and uninterruptible power systems (UPS) in data centers. Sources said Simplo, the second largest battery supplier in the electric bicycle industry, has been providing UPS products to major data center customers in the United States.

Simplo announced February consolidated revenue of NT $ 3.82 billion (US $ 126.44 million), a 20% decrease from the previous month and a 3.5% decrease from the same period last year, while the consolidated consolidated revenue for the first two months of 2019 was NT $ 8.61 billion , A year-on-year decrease of 7%. The company's March revenue is likely to increase from month to month as Simplo's plants in Chongqing and Jiangsu resume production quickly.

Sung said Simplo's electric bicycle business is currently growing at a double-digit rate each year and is Japan's largest supplier.

Simplo has also started looking for business opportunities in the medical device industry and has applied for ISO 13485 certification for medical device quality management. The company initially targeted battery supply for medical devices.
