Innolux launches AM mini LED-backlight PID device to promote 8K displays

28 August 2023

Innolux has begun to sell active matrix (AM) mini LED backlight PID (public information display) products, and cooperate with brand suppliers such as Sharp to promote 8K displays to continue to build 8K + 5G ecosystem.

Although the display industry has been weak in 2019 and global panel shipments have been revised downwards, the PID market has been on the rise. To deepen its deployment in the highly customized and profitable PID market, the company will showcase a 110-inch AM mini LED touch-panel display at Touch Taiwan 2019 from August 28th to 30th.

At the same time, inspired by the establishment of 8K + 5G ecosystems by major IT companies around the world, it is expected that global shipments of 8K LCD and 8K OLED panels will reach 340,000 and 5,000 units respectively in 2019.

Innolux is working with Sharp to develop the lucrative 8K display market. The two companies will jointly showcase the 120-inch 8K TV on Touch Taiwan 2019, as well as Innolux's 65-inch Mega-Zone and 65-inch AM mini LED 8K TV.

Ding said that Innolux's 65-inch Mega-Zone and AM mini LED 8K panels have high sales potential, as these two technologies overcome the shortcomings of life-panel shortening and screen aging that are common in OLED displays.

Innolux is also working with Chinese partners to develop ultra-large-size touch-sensitive 4K whiteboards to open up the Chinese conference market and other smart whiteboards for medical applications. In general, Innolux's promotion of 8K displays is conducive to the continued development of the display industry.
