On November 27, the Financial Times reported that after the United States introduced new chip export control measures, the Japanese chip equipment supplier Ferrotec had begun to restructure its supply chain and factories, aiming to enter the United States and China markets.

The CEO of Ferrotec Group said that the company was accelerating its plan to expand production outside China to respond to the requirements of American customers such as Lam Research and Applied Materials.

"In the future, we hope to make it not only in China, but also in Japan, Malaysia and even the United States." The person in charge of Ferrotec further said that the Chinese market will grow in the future, so it will produce in China to meet the needs of the Chinese market.

It is reported that Ferrotec plans to maintain product manufacturing in China and will diversify its supply chain in the next two years.

In addition, an executive of a chip manufacturing equipment manufacturer in the United States said that he would no longer purchase some Ferrotec parts produced in China. The executive also said that geopolitical uncertainty was one of the reasons why Ferrotec invested 120 million dollars to build a new factory in Malaysia, which is expected to start operation in September next year.
