Description
The MAX5921/MAX5939 hot-swap controllers enable safe hot plugging of circuit cards into live backplanes. They operate from -20V to -80V and are suitable for -48V power systems. These devices provide controlled turn-on to prevent damage to board components and glitches on the power supply rail. They offer undervoltage, overvoltage, and overcurrent protection, ensuring input voltage stability before applying power to the load. Both devices protect against overcurrent and short-circuit conditions by turning off the external MOSFET during faults. They also limit load current during input voltage steps to prevent power loss.
