Semicon Taiwan Opens 700 Exhibitors in 2019

28 August 2023

The annual Semicon Taiwan trade show will be held in Taipei from September 18th to 20th. This year's theme will focus on cutting-edge technology, enabling the semiconductor industry to extend silicon beyond Moore's Law.

This year's show featured more than 2,200 booths and more than 700 exhibitors from around the world.

Semicon Taiwan 2019 will host the Electronic Innovation Forum and Technology Think Tank Summit, where participants share insights into the latest trends and opportunities in smart vertical markets including manufacturing, automotive, healthcare and data. At the Technology Think Tank Summit, attendees will include CEOs of Quanta Computer, Hon Hai Technology Group, TSMC, ASE, Etron Technology, Powerchip Semiconductor and Macronix International.

Semicon Taiwan will also gather industry experts this year to discuss the heterogeneous integration opportunities and challenges of the three activities - SiP Global Summit, Taiwan Strategic Materials Conference and Advanced Testing Forum.

According to exhibition organizer SEMI, Semicon Taiwan is expected to attract 50,000 visitors because Taiwan spends $11.4 billion on global semiconductor equipment spending, and the compound annual growth rate of advanced manufacturing capacity in the region is 21.1%. As the global hub for wafer production and IC packaging, Taiwan has become the first choice for semiconductor equipment spending for the ninth consecutive year.

According to SEMI, global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales in the second quarter of 2019 reached $13.3 billion, down 20% year-on-year and 3% from the previous quarter. Taiwan's quarter-on-quarter growth was the largest in all regions of the quarter, with equipment bills up 47% year-on-year to US$3.21 billion.

The latest market forecast report of SEMI International Semiconductor Industry Association shows that in 2019, Taiwan's semiconductor manufacturing equipment investment will surpass South Korea and rank first in the world with a growth rate of 21.1%, driven by advanced processes and production capacity.

In general, the SEMI service platform has been extended from the upstream of the semiconductor industry chain to smart terminal applications, allowing Taiwan to not only connect with global technology trends, but also become an engine that drives the future development of high-tech industries.
