First-line PC brand competes for 2H19 CAD requirements

According to sources in the upstream supply chain, the CAD market is expected to become a new growth driver for the PC market, and most first-line brand suppliers have already prepared products for business opportunities in the second half of 2019.

Sources expect that as Apple releases its new 16-inch ultra-thin bezel MacBook Pro, the device will appeal to consumers in the CAD market, and this trend may also benefit the sale of non-Apple branded CAD products.

Since Apple products have dominated the CAD market, Wintel-based PC suppliers have been eager to gain market share from this US supplier because their sales growth in the gaming PC market has been waning.

Macro cer's game PC shipments doubled in 2017, but growth only fell to 71% in 2018 and further dropped to 37% in the first quarter of 2019.

Nvidia and Intel's next-generation hardware don't have any major improvements or compelling new features, and game designers have no plans to release any new AAA games soon. According to sources, the growth of the gaming PC market is expected to continue to slow in the short term.

In the long run, with cloud computing service providers such as Google and Apple launching game streaming services, users can play games without purchasing first-class hardware. Therefore, with the commercialization of PCs, the demand for gaming PCs is expected to be weaken.

According to Acer, about 50% of game PC users use their machines for CAD purposes, while 15% don't play games. Based on these numbers, Macrocer decided to separate the CAD product business from the gaming PC business.

In general, in addition to Macro cer, HP, Lenovo, Asustek Computer and MSI International (PCI) and other PC brands have begun to release specific products for the commercial sector, and is expected to compete fiercely at the end of the year.
