Apple announced AirPods Pro, a new addition to the AirPods family that features a new lightweight in-ear design with active noise reduction and immersive sound.
The active noise reduction feature on AirPods Pro uses two microphones combined with advanced software to constantly adapt to each person's ears and headphones. According to the supplier, this eliminates background noise to provide a customized noise reduction experience that allows users to focus on what they are listening to.
The first microphone is facing outward and detects external sound to analyze ambient noise. AirPods Pro then creates an equivalent anti-noise function to remove background noise and reach the listener's ear. The second inward-facing microphone listens toward the ear, and AirPods Pro eliminates the residual noise detected by the microphone. The noise cancellation function continuously adjusts the sound signal 200 times per second.
AirPods Pro provides sound quality through Adaptive EQ, which automatically adjusts the mid to low frequencies of your music to the shape of your ears.
Apple says custom high-dynamic range amplifiers produce clear sound while extending battery life and powering custom high-offset, low-distortion speaker drivers designed to optimize audio quality and eliminate background noise. The drive delivers consistent bass as low as 20Hz and provides detailed mid to high frequency audio.
AirPad Pro's "transparent" mode gives users the option of listening to music while still hearing the surrounding environment. With a pressure-balanced ventilation system and advanced software, the right amount of noise cancellation is kept active, and the transparent mode ensures that the user's own sounds sound natural while the audio continues to play perfectly.
Switching between active noise reduction and transparency modes is very simple and can be done directly on AirPods Pro using the force sensor on the pole. Apple says the force sensor also makes it easy to play, pause or skip tracks and answer or hang up calls.
AirPods Pro features a system-in-package (SiP) design centered on the Apple H1 chip. The H1 has 10 audio cores and has functions from sound to Siri.
AirPods Pro has the same battery life as AirPods and can be accessed for up to 5 hours. It says that in active noise reduction mode, AirPods Pro provides up to four and a half hours of listening time and up to three and a half hours of talk time on a single charge. AirPods Pro can provide over 24 hours of listening time or more than 18 hours of talk time by charging an extra fee from the wireless charging box.
The AirPods Pro is priced at $249 and is available in the US and 25 other countries. AirPods Pro will begin shipping on October 30th.
The AirPods generation was widely questioned when it was first released. AirPodsPro is an upgraded version of the previous product, and users finally waited for active noise reduction. It has also become the industry's smallest active noise-cancelling headset with the longest battery life. AirPodsPro allows its wireless headsets to have a clearer market differentiation and will get more users with different needs.
