ASUS's revenue surged in August

The total revenue of Asustek Computer in August was NT$30.64 billion (US$973.13 million), up 20.03% year-on-year and 5.1% year-on-year. The consolidated revenue for the first eight months of 2019 reached NT$216.22 billion, down 4.8% year-on-year.
In the traditional peak season, Asustek's sales of notebooks, motherboards and graphics cards increased in August, and the benefits of its business restructuring began to emerge.
Asustek co-CEO SY Hsu previously said that Asustek expects its PC revenue and shipments to grow by about 20% in the third quarter, while motherboard and graphics card revenue and shipments will increase by about 15%.
The company said that Asustek's notebook shipments will return to growth in the second half of 2019 and are expected to continue to grow in 2020. Demand for game models is particularly strong, and shipments of related products are expected to increase by nearly 10% in 2019.
At present, ultra-thin notebooks account for about 57% of ASUS notebook business revenue, while gaming notebooks account for 15-20%.
ASUS also entered the CAD field of the enterprise market through its ProArt series products. The company initially targeted China and Taiwan with the series and will gradually expand its product line to Southeast Asia.
ASUS will announce the launch of its new Chromebook device by the end of 2019 or early 2020, and will continue to strengthen its marketing and channel deployment in the enterprise market. It is expected that there will be significant revenue contribution in the second half of 2020.
In total, as of the end of August, Asustek has sold about 260,000 to 270,000 ROG Phone IIs in China. It is estimated that by the end of 2019, the total sales of game smartphones will reach 400,000-500,000 units, accounting for more than half. Global game smartphone shipments are approximately 800,000 units and have been listed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Europe since September.
