28 August 2023
According to industry sources, as more and more mobile phone manufacturers launch 5G mobile phones that meet the inauguration ceremony of the global commercial 5G network, the competition in the 5G mobile phone market is becoming increasingly fierce.
The competition between Samsung Electronics and Huawei is currently the focus of the market. Samsung seems to have an advantage in the 5G space, using its Galaxy S10 5G and Note 10 5G in multiple markets including the US, UK, Australia, Finland and the local market.
According to sources, since the commercial operators such as SKT, KT and LG Uplus started to use commercial 5G networks in April, the total number of users of 5G services in Korea has exceeded 2 million. In China, Huawei has launched four models based on 5G. It is reported that its Mate 20 X has sold more than 1 million units.
At the same time, Xiaomi launched Mi Mix 3, and Oppo launched Reno 2, both models support 5G technology. Another Chinese supplier, Vivo, has launched its first 5G mobile phone, iQOO Pro, for less than RMB 5,000 ($699).
In 2019, global 5G smartphone shipments are estimated to reach 2 million units, and in 2025, it will reach 1.5 billion units, with an average annual growth rate of over 250%. It is foreseeable that with the maturity of 5G technology, the 5G mobile phone market will be the place for major manufacturers.
